Leaders of the 11-party alliance held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner A. M. M. Nasir Uddin, raising a series of allegations over irregularities, vote rigging, and administrative bias in the 13th National Parliament election. The meeting began at 11:50 am on Sunday (15 February) at the headquarters of the Bangladesh Election Commission in Agargaon, Dhaka. Among those present were Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. A. H. M. Hamidur Rahman Azad, liaison committee media coordinator of the 11-party alliance Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Jamaat leader Barrister Najibur Rahman Momen, Labour Party’s Mostafizur Rahman Iran, and central leaders of other alliance partners. During the meeting, the alliance leaders alleged that widespread irregularities took place in different constituencies on polling day, including the occupation of polling centers, intimidation of voters, and biased conduct by local administrations. They claimed that in many areas, polling agents of opposition candidates were not allowed to enter voting centers, while in some cases ballot boxes were reportedly stuffed even before voting began. According to the alliance, such irregularities prevented the true reflection of public opinion and cast serious doubts over the results in several constituencies. The leaders particularly mentioned that allegations were more frequent in seats where opposition candidates contested under the “Dhaner Sheesh 🌾” symbol. They demanded that the Election Commission conduct proper investigations into the complaints, suspend results in disputed polling centers, and arrange re-polls where necessary. The alliance also raised concerns about the political atmosphere following the election, saying the current situation does not reflect a normal democratic environment and has created anxiety among the public. They urged the Election Commission to take neutral and effective steps to restore public confidence in the electoral process. The leaders further brought up incidents of post-election violence, alleging that opposition supporters were attacked in several areas after the results were announced. They called on the Commission to investigate those incidents as well and ensure legal action against those responsible. Earlier on Saturday night (14 February), the alliance’s liaison committee media coordinator confirmed the meeting through a press release, stating that the leaders would hold formal discussions with the Chief Election Commissioner on post-election developments, allegations of irregularities, and the prevailing political situation. After the meeting, the alliance said it had submitted its complaints in written form to the Commission and expected prompt and effective action.
