The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a reshuffle in the police administration, appointing new Superintendents of Police (SP) across seven districts. The directive, issued by the Public Security Division under Police-1 branch on Monday, was signed by Deputy Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and will take effect immediately.
According to the official notification, seven senior officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre have been transferred to their new postings in the public interest. The ministry emphasized that the reshuffle was aimed at enhancing efficiency and ensuring smooth law enforcement at the district level.
Under the new order, Mohammad Al Mamun Shikder, who was serving as Superintendent of Police in the industrial zone, has been transferred to Barguna as the district SP. In another change, Asaduzzaman, Superintendent of Police at the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), will now take charge as Superintendent of Police in Bagerhat.
The Police Headquarters’ officer Mohammad Menhazul Alam has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for Narsingdi, while Mohammad Jasim Uddin, previously Deputy Police Commissioner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been assigned as Superintendent of Police in Narayanganj.
In addition, Mohammad Manjur Ahmed Siddiqui, also serving as a Deputy Police Commissioner with DMP, will take over as Superintendent of Police in Meherpur. Md. Robiul Islam, Special Superintendent of Police with the Special Branch (SB), has been transferred to Narail as its district SP. Meanwhile, Mohammad Tarikul Islam, who was working as Superintendent of Police with the Highway Police, will now serve as Superintendent of Police in Natore.
The Ministry of Home Affairs noted that such transfers are part of regular administrative measures to ensure that policing and law enforcement remain responsive to the needs of different regions. District-level police chiefs play a key role in maintaining law and order, overseeing crime prevention, and supporting development initiatives through community policing efforts.
Transfers of senior police officials are a common practice within the Bangladesh Police administration, allowing for rotation of duties and the application of experienced leadership in different local contexts. With these new appointments, the ministry expects the districts to benefit from fresh perspectives, improved coordination, and renewed focus on ensuring security and public safety.
The order specifies that the decision has been made in the interest of public service and comes into effect without delay. The newly appointed Superintendents of Police are expected to assume their duties in their respective districts immediately.
