The formal process of filing appeals against decisions on the acceptance and rejection of nomination papers has begun today at the Election Commission, marking a crucial phase in the run-up to the upcoming thirteenth National Parliamentary Election and adding a new dimension to the electoral contest, through this appeal mechanism aggrieved candidates as well as concerned banks, financial institutions, government service-providing bodies or duly authorized representatives of candidates are allowed to submit appeals within the stipulated deadline, to ensure smooth and organized handling of applications the Election Commission has set up ten separate appeal booths at its Agargaon headquarters by dividing the entire country into regional zones, enabling candidates from different districts to submit their appeals in a structured manner, this region-based booth system is aimed at reducing congestion and ensuring transparency and efficiency in the appeal process, candidates from Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Chattogram, Cumilla, Sylhet, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal and Faridpur regions are now able to challenge nomination-related decisions at their designated counters, the Commission has indicated that all appeals filed within the deadline will be reviewed through scheduled hearings where relevant documents, legal arguments and factual grounds will be carefully examined, this phase is being closely watched by political actors as the outcome of the appeals may significantly influence the final list of contestants in many constituencies, overall the commencement of the appeal process signals further advancement in election preparations while also intensifying political anticipation and scrutiny surrounding the Commission’s role and decisions.
